The idea of knitting a sock with one circular was of some interest to me since I have small kids under the age of 6. I ordered a few to review and try out from HiyaHiya needles and so far I am really liking them. You will have to get adjusted to holding it because the needle tips themselves are very very short- a bit shorter than working with 16″ circulars.
I have the Knitter’s Pride Nova Special Edition needles and the tips are shorter than your average 4.5 or 5″ needle tips to accomendate for the smaller size of the 16″ cord. Because I am use to smaller tips anyways, I didn’t really have to get too adjusted to the mini circulars (9″ sock needles).
Begining the project was the biggest hassle but after I got to round 3 or 4, it was a breeze.
I wanted to try these because I saw a lady on YouTube knitting with them with kids running around. I said to myself- this is the perfect choice! I have all sorts of needles- straight, circular, DPN’s, crochet hooks, pins and needles, sewing supplies, hot glue gun, and even knitting looms…. The 9″ circular needles seem to be the best fit for mom’s with active kids around. You will not be dropping DPN’s from now on or loosing stitches off of your straight needle from the breastfeeding baby (who discovered said needles right in the middle of a lace pattern row)….lol.
So….so far I have made socks on DPN’s, magic loop with a long circular, 2 at a time socks on a long circular, knit 2 inside out on a long circular and now….on my very convient and niffy 9″ mini circular needles.
This size is a bit harder to find but HiyaHiya has them and I was very impressed with their Sharp Steel Lace set that I said- sure at least get them and try them…. They are so tiny and cute lol.
Part 2 Review of the HiyaHiya 9″ needles coming soon…
